Apple stole your idea to draw pictures with iPods:

so ive got about 6217 files that are mpeg. I have so many different ranges of music on my ipod its killing me in my truck with things sounding better then others. So my question is and I dont know if this will help but should I just convert my entire music library over to aac? I have already made a back up of my music folder and went ahead and started to convert. If you folks say this is good then I will just go ahead and delete and move to trash all the mpegs.
Let me know please

I was a freshman in high school. I was just getting off the bus in the morning when i heard these exact words on the radio "...oh my god! A second plane has just hit the second world trade center building"
i kinda walked on into class in shock until 1st period started. The teacher had the tv on when we came in. We watched the first and the second towers fall. We watched the people running from the cloud of dust and debris be overtaken by it. Thats about all we did that day.
I didn't know anyone from New York so i wasn't personally affected. I offer my condolences to those of you who did lose someone.

This is awesome news, again it's brilliant because it states the iPhone 5 will be the same size as the iPhone 4, when I was at The Gadget Show Live on Friday I looked at all the new phones, the Galaxy S 2, the new Motorola and LG's the Xperia Play and Arc, the Nokia E7 (beautiful industrial design BTW) and I compared them all to my iPhone 4 and they were all MASSIVE and I mean MASSIVE next to the iPhone. And as for Acer's 4.8" beast........ I saw that too and thought it was a PDA or mini computer, not a smart phone!!:eek:
I believe Galaxy S 2 is actually lighter than iPhone 4 (and thinner too). So, unless pocket size is an issue, what's there to worry about?

Sounds good. :) What about Numbers? I pray they don't dumb it down like Pages, please!
If a word processor can even be dumbed down, it's been poorly designed... Pages is my wp of choice now for just about everything. I find Word too noisy-- I have never used more than half the functions in Word (even after putting in a good effort to "learn to use them effectively").
I agree with the crowd that thinks compatibility is important. There's two levels of compatibility though-- functional and superficial. If they can make it functionally compatible with a reasonable subset of Excel functions, then it will be enough for me to use and share files.
There are times though when superficial compatibility is critical-- where it needs to print and format on another machine just the way you wrote it. I run into this problem with Keynote-- I can export something to Powerpoint to use as a starting point for cleanup, but it's rarely presentable straight from export.
Maybe Cellmate?
I like it! Much better than "Charts" or "Numbers"...

I bet sales of the whitebook have tanked since October. Only reason to buy a whitebook was because you could not afford a macbook pro. The air is even better than 13" MBP in everything but raw cpu power, and lack of some ports.

Tell that to the Parallels people. Bootcamp isn't the same thing.
True to use Bootcamp you actually have to re-boot the computer. I see what you are saying.

i hope they have insurance.
i wonder how they sell those Macbooks and iPads. seems to be the biggest risk to get caught or scammed out of "their" money.

We have to remember that Apple plays a large part within the music industry now. Of comparison look at MTV.

A long time ago I disassembled my powerbook cause it had a lot of problems, and I lost the cable that goes to the pram board/battery. THe battery is dead anyways.
I plan on using this machine as a simple "airport express"-esque itunes music player controlled by my ios device with Remote. display is bad, keyboard is bad, trackpad, etc. I will shed the os of anything unneccessary and optimize for shear itunes playback performance and that's it.
Anyways, can I ditch that pram battery board without any real issues?

Seems like most people don't want to see the footage ever again. I suppose I understand, as it is very traumatic to watch. I have a CNN DVD that has a bunch of footage from that day and the days following, which my wife and I have watched every year since on 9/11. I imagine we'll pop it in again tonight once the boy has been put to bed.
It's disturbing to see it all again, particularly the people jumping from the upper floors, but I don't ever want to forget how the events of that day made me feel.

Looks like they made off with iPads for the most part. Easy grab and high resale.
Apple will track these with no doubt.
Looks like an inside job and store had NO real security other than 2 lightly locked doors.

Flickr already stores location information for photos - not GPS-based, but you can browse maps and assign pictures to a specific location where you took them, and then search/browse all users shared photos by location. I could see iPhoto doing something similar, with the add-in of recognizing GPS data.

Microsoft has announced that it has halted development on a universal version of VirtualPC.
Microsoft has claimed that to port VirtualPC to Intel would be much like making VirtualPC 1.0 all over again.
Funny how the folks at EMC (VMWare) didn't seem to think so...

So the previous "beta" releases on the Mac were just alphas? Interesting. How long has Opera 8 been in the making? I am surprised that they're already releasing it, but maybe it just feels short.

That would be cool, but there could be a hitch: A lot of those lyric sites get shut down, because you're supposed to license the lyrics from the publishing company in order to be able to use them. So this could cost Apple a lot of money in the long run.

the laptop has a internet connection to the same router as the desktop as 192.168.1.103. it's easier to disable that so i wasn't too concerned about it turns out when i do then the ethernet connection works. i thought either by putting the ethernet interface first in os x's priority list and/or making a route for it that it would work but neither seemed to do it.
From your desktop can you ping 192.168.2.2 and from the laptop ping 192.168.2.1?
From the diagram and your description, the laptop doesn't have a wireless connection. So it's a bit puzzling when you say it keeps trying to use the wireless. How are you trying to copy files, using Finder? Try scp'ing using the ip addresses you gave, if the pings work.
BTW, I've got my laptop with a 192.x.x.x address for the wired connection, and a 10.x.x.x address for the wireless. It's having no problems seeing both networks.
no pinging doesn't work
