Secular forces put forward conditions for presidential candidates


A number of secular forces, on Wednesday presented the 12 conditions for presidential candidates to commit, including the formation of the Presidential General Staff, composed of members of parliament as a candidate to disclose to the tour.

At the conference, the Social Democratic Party of Egypt, the participants prepared a document which requires that each candidate engage in immediate consultation on forming a coalition government that will represent all the political forces, including youth, women and Copts, and to report the name of its prime Minister to the second round.

It also obliges them to offer the Constituent Assembly, representing all sectors of society, including youth, women and Copts in a proportional manner. Decisions taken by the Assembly, to be taken by a majority of two thirds, and its members must be declared before the second round.

Look for the obligations to comply strictly with values ​​such as equality before law and equal opportunity and civil liberties, including freedom of expression, freedom of the press and religious freedoms. He also asked them to take on the transfer of power and respect fully the results of free and fair elections.

They also need to take policy to achieve social justice, income differences are narrow and meet the basic needs of citizens in a dignified manner.

The document recognized the independence of the judiciary and the right of citizens to the civil process, and called for the codification of the status of forces, the Constitution of 1971, the military budget under the control of Parliament, without prejudice to the security and confidentiality of the army.

The most important item in this document is for candidates to recognize the right of the Egyptian people to revolt if they fail to meet these conditions or to violate the constitution and civil liberties.

The final document will be announced at a press conference on Friday at the headquarters of the Union of Lawyers.
