Colts
As the Indianapolis Colts season will continue to Hades gave up "Monday Night Football" contest, Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct. 3 with a score of 24-17, quarterback Curtis Painter and the (known), the first NFL start. A little silver lining 'is that the painter was not completely horrible game. For those who do not watch the game, a quick glance at the box score might indicate that the painter was a very good night: 281 yards passing, two touchdowns, well, listen, and 99.4 quarterback rating, better than the Bucs quarterback Josh Freeman ( Notes) (94.7).
But the words of Lee Corso, "Not so fast, my friend."
Painter two touchdown passes to Pierre Garcon (notes) and were 87 and 59 yards. The 87 yards (see here) has actually been thrown about 20 yards down field and caught by Garcon, who broke a tackle by Aqib Talib (notes) on the sidelines and turned on the afterburners.
The 59 meters (see here) was a painter of simple screen pass just had to throw in the line of scrimmage, where children and distant, with the help of a block of time lying perfectly unique and Reggie Wayne (notes), secured the run in the middle of the field beyond.
To remove something the player himself, and acknowledges that Peyton Manning (notes) have benefited many times from a player like that Boy-do 95 percent of working with those affected. It did not take great skill by the painter to get the ball to a receiver wide open twice, regardless Ron Jaworski is gushing about how the painter 87 yards showed arm strength (huh, what ?). Painter completed 13 of his 30 pass attempts (43.3 percent), but if you remove two long touchdown passes and boys, the vast majority of the work, the painter was 11-of-28 (39.3 percent) for 135 meters. Yuck.
He also lost a fumble in the Colts record second, who sent me an "Oh, come on!" Tirado, but Indy was not damaged from the mistakes of this season of Tampa Bay missed a field goal on the resulting possession.
Painter In defense, however, his offensive line was beaten to pulp, it was just a book and lose the game all the steps fell into a game somewhere around 49 bazillion. Garcon two touchdowns were the only two passages that could resist. He fell about 936 others, it seemed. Dallas Clark (Notes) decreased by at least one. Joseph Addai (Notes) dropped one. Maybe they dropped passes, because they were low. Most of them seemed to be about knee or ankle level, if I remember correctly.
Accuracy is not the strong point of the painter. Despite the constant force Jaworski exaggerate in the arms of the painter through the issue, there seems to be throwing harder than any other quarterback in the NFL throws. Of course, had some trouble hitting the broad side of a barn on occasion. Austin Collie jumped Run (notes), embarked one or two to the head of Wayne, and had a couple more that landed on the wide open spaces on the ground, perhaps the result of failures in communication. However, in at least four times, Mike Tirico password artist describes as "almost intercepted" during the broadcast of the match.
Even some of his finishes were ugly. The nose of the ball was somehow emphasized the grass as it happened just below the groin with his receivers. I still can not understand how he did it.
Beyond the ugliness and the imprecision of his passes, a painter could not get the offense moving. 11 units of the Colts' at night, four of them three and out. The other two were four-and-out. Then there was a five-play drive that ended Painter fumble. Indianapolis held the ball 21 minutes, Tampa Bay, 39 minutes and an idle four yards of offense in the fourth quarter.
No wonder the defense looked exhausted. They were there forever.
Some, no doubt, is the result of virtually no previous experience in the regular-season games, and I sympathize with him having to work through the hiccups in his first start in front of a large television audience and a packed house at Raymond James Stadium. I also appreciate the fact that it is much easier to be an armchair quarterback it means to be an NFL quarterback.
But I do not see a diamond in the rough when the painter is there. I see a guy frantically trying his best but has maximized his talent level and still come up short.
The return home of the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium for a Week 6 tilt against the Kansas City Chiefs, who only scored his first win of the season in Week 5 at the expense of the Minnesota Vikings, winless . In my travels around the rest of the program in 2011, I see little hope of future victories of the Colts out of the game and two games against rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert Heads of (notes) and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
"Not quite horrible" play out of turn will not cut it if Indianapolis is hoping to avoid a bagel in the win column at the end of the season.
